Advanced Renal Replacement Therapy – Dialysis Services

The department provides comprehensive dialysis and advanced renal replacement therapy for patients with acute and chronic kidney failure. Treatment is individualised according to kidney function, overall health, haemodynamic status and long-term renal care requirements.

Haemodialysis is offered for both acute and chronic kidney failure using appropriate dialysis modalities. For critically ill patients who may not tolerate conventional dialysis, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) provides continuous and controlled removal of excess fluid and metabolic waste.

The department also performs haemodialysis catheter insertion, including non-cuffed temporary catheters and cuffed tunnelled catheters for longer-term access. Peritoneal dialysis services include both acute and chronic peritoneal dialysis, while Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) allows eligible patients to perform dialysis at home with appropriate clinical training and follow-up.

Advanced extracorporeal therapies also include haemoperfusion for selected cases of poisoning and drug overdose and plasmapheresis or therapeutic plasma exchange for appropriate autoimmune and antibody-mediated renal diseases.
