Diagnosis & Management of Kidney Diseases

The Department of Nephrology provides comprehensive diagnosis and management of kidney diseases, ranging from early-stage renal disorders to complex and progressive kidney conditions. Care is focused on identifying the underlying cause of kidney dysfunction, preserving renal function and preventing or slowing disease progression through evidence-based medical management.

Our nephrology team manages a wide spectrum of glomerular diseases, including IgA nephropathy, membranous nephropathy, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and lupus nephritis. Specialised care is also provided for diabetic nephropathy, hypertensive nephrosclerosis and renal complications associated with long-standing diabetes and hypertension.

Patients with Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) receive prompt evaluation and intensive treatment aimed at identifying reversible causes and preventing further kidney damage. For Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), stage-based treatment plans include regular kidney function monitoring, blood pressure and diabetes control, medication optimisation, dietary guidance and strategies to delay progression towards kidney failure.

The department also manages hereditary and cystic kidney diseases such as autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD and ARPKD), renal hypertension caused by renal artery stenosis or kidney parenchymal disease, tubular disorders and metabolic bone disease associated with CKD.
