Fibroid Treatment & Myomectomy

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for uterine fibroids, which may cause heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pressure, pain, fertility-related concerns or complications during pregnancy. Treatment is selected according to the size, number and location of the fibroids, the severity of symptoms and the patient's reproductive plans. Management may include medical therapy, hysteroscopic procedures, laparoscopic surgery, robotic-assisted surgery or conventional surgery.

Myomectomy

A myomectomy is a surgical procedure in which uterine fibroids are removed while preserving the uterus. It may be considered for women who wish to retain their uterus or preserve future fertility, depending on the location and characteristics of the fibroids.

Caesarean Myomectomy

In carefully selected cases, a Caesarean myomectomy may be performed at the time of Caesarean delivery. The decision is based on the size and location of the fibroids, potential bleeding risk and the overall clinical condition of the mother.
