First Trimester & Chromosomal Screening

First Trimester Screening and Down Syndrome Screening in Kochi

First trimester screening helps assess the baby's early development and estimate the risk of selected chromosomal abnormalities. The assessment may include ultrasound findings together with maternal clinical information and appropriate screening tests.

First Trimester Screening

First trimester screening evaluates early fetal anatomy and selected ultrasound markers during the appropriate stage of pregnancy. It can also help identify pregnancies that may require additional monitoring or further diagnostic evaluation.

Down Syndrome Screening

Screening for Down syndrome estimates the probability that a pregnancy may be affected by trisomy 21 and, depending on the screening method, other chromosomal conditions. If a screening result indicates an increased risk, the Fetal Medicine specialist may discuss further testing such as chorionic villous sampling or amniocentesis.

Preeclampsia Screening

Preeclampsia screening evaluates maternal and pregnancy-related factors associated with the risk of developing preeclampsia. Women identified as being at increased risk may require closer obstetric and fetal surveillance during pregnancy.

Beta Thalassemia Screening

Screening can help identify couples who may be carriers of beta thalassemia. Where both parents are carriers or there is a significant family history, prenatal diagnostic options may be discussed.
