Robotic Radical Prostatectomy & Simple Prostatectomy

Robotic radical prostatectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat selected patients with localised or locally advanced prostate cancer. During the procedure, the prostate gland and associated cancerous tissue are removed using the da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical System. The robotic platform provides a magnified 3D view of the pelvis, allowing the surgeon to perform precise dissection around structures involved in urinary continence and sexual function. In appropriately selected patients, nerve-sparing techniques may be considered to preserve the nerves responsible for erectile function while maintaining appropriate cancer clearance. Compared with conventional open prostatectomy, robotic-assisted surgery may support reduced blood loss, smaller incisions and earlier recovery. Long-term outcomes depend on tumour stage, grade, patient health and other clinical factors.

Robotic simple prostatectomy is performed for selected men with a significantly enlarged prostate causing severe urinary obstruction due to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). Unlike radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, simple prostatectomy removes the enlarged internal portion of the prostate that is blocking urine flow while retaining the outer prostate tissue. The procedure may be recommended for very large prostates when less invasive endoscopic treatments are not suitable. The robotic approach enables precise removal of obstructing prostate tissue and reconstruction of the bladder outlet through small abdominal incisions, potentially offering reduced blood loss and faster recovery compared with traditional open surgery

Robotic Partial Nephrectomy

Robotic partial nephrectomy, also known as nephron-sparing surgery, involves removing a kidney tumour while preserving as much healthy kidney tissue as possible. It is commonly considered for selected localised kidney tumours where complete removal of the kidney is not necessary. The da Vinci Xi system enables surgeons to carefully identify and remove the tumour while performing precise reconstruction of the remaining kidney. The enhanced visualisation and instrument control can be particularly helpful for tumours located close to important blood vessels or the kidney's collecting system.

Preserving healthy kidney tissue can help maintain long-term renal function and may reduce the risk of chronic kidney disease in appropriately selected patients.

Robotic Adrenalectomy

Robotic adrenalectomy is a minimally invasive procedure used to remove one or both adrenal glands when clinically indicated. Surgery may be required for functional adrenal tumours that produce excess hormones, non-functioning adrenal masses, selected adrenal cancers or lesions that are increasing in size.

The adrenal glands are located close to major blood vessels and other important abdominal structures. Robotic technology provides enhanced magnification and controlled instrument movement, allowing careful dissection within this complex anatomical region. Depending on the diagnosis, robotic adrenalectomy may be performed through a transabdominal or other suitable surgical approach after comprehensive endocrine and radiological evaluation.

Robotic Radical Cystectomy

Robotic radical cystectomy is an advanced surgical treatment for selected patients with bladder cancer, particularly muscle-invasive disease or certain high-risk bladder cancers that cannot be adequately managed with bladder-preserving treatments.The procedure involves removal of the urinary bladder along with appropriate lymph node dissection and, when required, reconstruction of the urinary tract. Depending on the patient's condition, urinary diversion may involve an ileal conduit, neobladder or another reconstructive option.

The da Vinci Xi system allows surgeons to perform complex pelvic dissection through a minimally invasive approach with enhanced 3D visualisation and precise instrument control. Treatment decisions are made following multidisciplinary evaluation based on tumour stage, overall health and patient-specific factors.
