The Fetal Medicine team provides detailed ultrasound monitoring and selected fetal interventions depending on the condition affecting the pregnancy.

Monochorionic Twin Monitoring

Regular ultrasound surveillance helps assess fetal growth, amniotic fluid, blood flow and complications specific to twins sharing a placenta.

Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofrequency ablation is a specialised fetal therapy used in selected complicated multiple pregnancies where interruption of blood flow to one fetus is medically required to protect the co-twin.

Fetal Reduction

Fetal reduction may be considered in highly selected multiple pregnancies following detailed counselling and multidisciplinary assessment. The clinical indication, risks and ethical considerations are discussed carefully with the family before the procedure.
