Neonatal Surgical Care & Perioperative Support

Multidisciplinary Care for Newborns Requiring Surgery

Some newborn babies are born with congenital abnormalities or develop conditions that require surgical evaluation and treatment. These babies often require coordinated care involving neonatologists, paediatric surgeons, anaesthesiologists and other specialists. The Department of Neonatology provides preoperative and postoperative NICU support for newborns undergoing surgical treatment, depending on the baby's medical requirements.

Neonatal Surgery Support

Before surgery, newborns may require respiratory stabilisation, intravenous fluids, nutritional support, infection management and continuous monitoring.

Following surgery, the NICU team supports recovery through close monitoring of breathing, circulation, pain, fluid balance, nutrition and other clinical parameters.

The multidisciplinary approach enables newborn babies with complex conditions to receive coordinated medical and surgical care within the hospital.
