Pleural Effusion Diagnosis & Treatment

Pleural effusion is an abnormal collection of fluid around the lungs and can develop due to infection, heart disease, malignancy, inflammatory disorders or other underlying conditions.

Our pulmonologists provide thoracic ultrasound-guided diagnostic and therapeutic pleural aspiration, allowing pleural fluid to be sampled for diagnosis or removed to relieve symptoms. Patients who require continued drainage may undergo chest drain or pleural catheter insertion depending on the underlying condition.
