Preventive Kidney Care Programme

The Preventive Kidney Care Programme focuses on early identification of kidney disease and reducing the risk of progression to Chronic Kidney Disease and kidney failure. Regular screening is particularly important for people with diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular disease, a family history of kidney disorders or other risk factors for renal disease.

Comprehensive kidney health screening may include urine analysis, serum creatinine testing, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and appropriate imaging studies. Dedicated diabetes and hypertension nephroprotection services focus on controlling the two leading risk factors associated with progressive kidney damage.

The programme also incorporates renal dietitian-led nutritional counselling, lifestyle modification, medication review and strategies to optimise blood pressure, blood sugar and cardiovascular health. Patients with CKD receive structured education and self-management support to help them understand their condition, follow prescribed treatment, recognise warning signs and actively participate in protecting their remaining kidney function.
