Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy

Advanced Surgery for Chronic Pulmonary Blood Clots

Pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) is a specialised procedure performed for selected patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). During surgery, organised blood clots are removed from the pulmonary arteries to restore blood flow to the lungs.

Successful surgery can significantly improve breathing, exercise capacity and survival in carefully selected patients.
