Renal Disease in Pregnancy

Pregnancy can place additional stress on the kidneys, particularly in women with pre-existing renal disease or pregnancy-related hypertensive disorders. Our nephrology team provides specialised care for kidney diseases during pregnancy, working closely with obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists and critical care teams to protect both maternal and fetal health.

Conditions managed include pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, acute fatty liver of pregnancy, lupus nephritis during pregnancy and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in pregnancy. Management includes careful monitoring of kidney function, blood pressure, fluid status and medications, with individualised treatment plans designed to minimise maternal and fetal complications.
