Robotic Colon & Rectal Cancer Surgeries

Robotic colorectal surgery is used for selected diseases of the colon and rectum, including colorectal cancers and certain complex benign conditions. The robotic platform can be particularly valuable in rectal surgery because the rectum is located deep within the narrow pelvic cavity, where conventional instruments may have limited manoeuvrability.

Robotic-assisted procedures may include colectomy, anterior resection, low anterior resection and other colorectal resections depending on the location and extent of disease. Enhanced 3D visualisation and precise instrument movement can help surgeons perform careful dissection around nerves, blood vessels and surrounding pelvic structures. For patients with colorectal cancer, the surgical plan is based on tumour location, stage, imaging findings and multidisciplinary team recommendations.
