Robotic liver surgery may be considered for selected benign and malignant liver conditions, including primary liver tumours, metastatic liver lesions and other complex hepatic disorders requiring surgical resection. The da Vinci Xi system provides enhanced magnification and precise instrument movement, which can be valuable when operating close to important blood vessels, bile ducts and other structures within the liver. Robotic-assisted techniques may allow surgeons to perform selected liver resections through smaller incisions while maintaining careful control of the surgical field. The suitability of robotic liver cancer surgery depends on tumour size, location, number of lesions, liver function and overall disease status. Each case is assessed individually before surgery is recommended.
