Sepsis Management & Critical Care Nephrology

Critical Care Nephrology provides specialised kidney support for critically ill patients with sepsis, multi-organ dysfunction, severe electrolyte disturbances and acute kidney failure. Close collaboration between nephrologists, intensivists and other specialists enables timely renal assessment and personalised treatment for patients requiring intensive care.

Renal replacement modalities include Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) for haemodynamically unstable ICU patients and Sustained Low-Efficiency Dialysis (SLED) for individuals requiring slower and more controlled fluid and toxin removal. Nephrology support also includes renal dose adjustment of medications, optimisation of fluid and electrolyte balance and pharmacokinetic monitoring to ensure medications are administered safely in patients with impaired kidney function.
