Sleep Disorders

Sleep disorders can affect concentration, mood, memory, work performance and overall health. Neurological sleep conditions may include insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness, restless legs syndrome, abnormal movements during sleep, parasomnias and sleep disturbances associated with Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy or other neurological disorders. Persistent snoring, witnessed breathing pauses, unusual behaviour during sleep, uncontrollable daytime sleepiness or repeated night-time movements should be medically evaluated.

At Apollo Adlux Hospital, sleep-disorder assessment begins with a detailed review of sleep patterns, daily routine, medication use, neurological symptoms and associated medical conditions. Patients may be advised to undergo sleep-laboratory testing when required to monitor breathing, oxygen levels, heart rate, brain activity and body movements during sleep. Treatment may include sleep-hygiene measures, medication, management of an underlying neurological condition or referral to respiratory and other specialists based on the findings.
