PFT laboratories commonly use measurements such as lung volumes and DLCO alongside exercise assessments such as the six-minute walk test to evaluate different aspects of respiratory function.

For patients who require advanced procedures, our Interventional Pulmonology programme offers minimally invasive techniques to diagnose lung cancer and mediastinal disease, evaluate unexplained pleural effusions, obtain tissue samples and provide therapeutic management for recurrent or complicated pleural conditions. EBUS-guided transbronchial needle aspiration is an established minimally invasive technique for obtaining samples from mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes and plays an important role in evaluating suspected malignancy.
